CAFA has three membership categories:

  • Regular Member - $325 TO $350 + 5% GST = $367.50 annually, Early Bird to May 31: $325 + 5% GST = $341.25
    Professional, business, corporate All Regular memberships now include an online subscription to the Farm Business Advisor (www.fbamanual.com)
  • Affiliate member - $100 + 5% GST = $105 annually
    Farm business owner, NPO, non-consulting educator, research
  • Student - $75 + 5% GST = $78.75 annually

Entrance Requirements - as of September 30, 2004

There are two classes of membership, regular and affiliate. Regular members vote and can use the designation. Affiliate members cannot. Affiliate members are primarily farmers.

Both regular and affiliate members must be individuals, at least 18 years of age.

As of September 30, 2004 unless otherwise determined by the National Membership Chair, applicants for regular membership:

  1. must have been advising farmers or involved in the agricultural field for at least two years;
  2. must be accepted by the local and national membership chairs;
  3. cannot have a criminal record;
  4. cannot have been sanctioned by a licensing or professional body having jurisdiction over that member; and,
  5. cannot have been declared bankrupt.

Regular Members must also qualify under than one of the following two categories:
  1. They are licensed by or belong to a self regulating organization (SRO) or other organization accepted by the Board; or
  2. They are recommended in prescribed form by two regular members of CAFA in good standing

Commencing September 30, 2005, regular members must meet one further criterion; they must pass a prescribed exam. CAFA will at that introduce a probationary membership - akin to an articling student - i.e. someone who is a member pending their successfully writing the exam. During their probation, they cannot vote or use the designation.
